The someone who saved me

The someone who saved me

I feel myself fall,
into the darkness.
I scream and I scream,
but no one can hear me.
By the time that I did
finally give up,
someone grabs my hand
And pulls me back up.
The put their arm around my waist
To keep me steady,
But I nearly fall back once more.
They pull me close to them
So that I won't fall,
And I bury my face in their shirt,
Tears streaming down my cheeks.
After a few minutes,
they lift my chin up.
But before I see their face,
I wake up.
I know who it was that saved me, though.
I know who it was who saved me.
I know it was you who saved me, then,
and I know it'll be you
who saves me now,
yet again.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
