The Struggle

Staring into my mind I wander to find what I seek
I reach out to entwine my fingers with my thoughts
Safe and gentle they are at the top
I try to reach for another but down I fall
I fail to grasp all around me as they swirl and move
Deeper I go and they start to turn
Now crimson like my blood I see the evil
It comes to me like a storm of hate and lost hope
I cower as I feel its icy grip upon my arm
It sucks the soul from deep with in my body
I feel the pain as it rises to leaves me
Weak and worn I struggle to free myself
It is a battle I dare not lose for if I do I have lost myself
I look and call for help that is not found
Pain so intense I crumble to my knees
Looking up I stare in the eyes of my death
Struck by fear I find it is me
I am my own death

There is a place in out minds where we store emotional experiences, the sign on the door should read "knots".

It sounds like Alice in Wonderland, but with a nice, dark little twist. I love the metaphor you use of entwining your fingers with your thoughts, very unique.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
