This is the Night

Poem Commentary

this is, to a point, a fictional story, this is how i felt when my father left to go to prison. i did do this, i spoke to him more and more all the time, i had only wished to hear him reply... this is what ultimately caused me to lose faith. i never realized that he was speaking to me, not through words, but actions. he helped me grow up, and become who i am now. thanks to him i have a job, so i can save the money to go see my father, i have a wonderful girlfriend who i love and intend to marry, i have a plan, i have a life, i have everything i ever wanted. it just isn't in the way i had wanted to get it when i was younger... i am sorry to you God, i see how you have helped me and saved me.... thank you for shelby, for my mother, my sisters, little SJ, and my soon to be family, i just wanted to thank you for everything you have done and more, for i know more is to come. i only hope i can live up to be the man i am supposed to be.

This is the Night

This is the night,
that God spoke to me,
this is the night,
i begged him,
to answer my plea,
this is the night,
that God spoke to me,
and told me of the man,
that i shall soon be,
he spoke of the future,
my wife,
and my kids,
but then he told me,
that tonight is the night,
that i must become the man,
for it has fit,
into his master plan,
this is the night that God spoke to me,
for this is the night,
where the place is empty,
the place where,
my father used to be.

This has so much emotion. It almost puts the reader into the situation. Great Write.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
