truth about deceit

truth about deceit

For you I am learning to swallow my pride
I’m sick of running and I don’t wanna hide
What’s done is done and I can’t run
I’ve accepted my fate and starting over with a dirty slate.

I’m ready for my beatings and to be an honest man
I learned to forgive me but your tears still ran
Take out your anger one kiss at a time
I’ll give you the address so you can drop the dime

Meet your fear and admit you were right after all
Don’t spend your time in stress and don’t count on the rain to fall
go on and take the reins to lead you to your past
walk or run but the night is fading fast

you are good at being responsible for everyone but you
start giving into temptation and give in to what is you
don’t be fooled by the road they say is less traveled cuz its all a lie
everyone goes down the path of good ideas but they always die

try taking a risk and doing what you want then go from there
the righteous and what you want are happy to share
your heart knows the truth about deceit
wrong was always a part of the plan
but no one knew how crazy was the man

if you will just give in to what you don’t want to do
everyone will be happy with what they are scared of being true
you really do have a say in what will happen on this earth
perfection would never happen without evils birth

confusion and chaos are some of your best friends
they just might lead you to what is unhinged
take a hammer to break your flawless heart
you can’t be whole till you have been torn apart

Wow Clayton, this is well written and absolutely beautiful. It is lyrical almost like country music song.. I was a bit confused as to whether this was a good or bad person who was the subject of the poem. Are you telling the good person they won't grow until they become flawed. Other than that bit of confusion for me I think it's excellent. You,ve got it going on.

Again i appreciate your constructive comments. I will say that most of my inspiration started out from a friend who does sing and play country songs. This particular piece isn't written for just one person. It is partially written to myself and to anyone. The part of breaking your flawless heart is alluding to people who believe that they are perfect in everything they do when in reality we are all sinners. It was just something i thought that might open someone's, anyone's eyes to that.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
