    Two Friends Meet

Two souls were looking on the net
Not knowing for what or who
    Easily prepared just to jet
They didn't know what to choose

    Conversation started out small
Not sure what they would find
Just a "Hi" started it all
Hoping it would be someone kind

It was slow in the beginning
    As all friendships go
They started with the first inning
Soon the emails began to flow

They talked of this and that
    Being leary of the other
    They slowly began to chat
One a Dad, the other a Mother

As they typed they began to see
They had found a friend like no other
They began to realize it just could be
For God and family was important to each other

As trials and heartaches began to rise
    True friendship became concrete
As they prayed, laughed and cried
    Their talk was less discreet

    As the emails flowed more
    They began to see
    The opening of a door
    It just might could be

    Then they were good friends
    Still talking on the net
    Using computers instead of pens
    No longer wanting to jet

    Their stomachs all a churn
Today is the first time they have met
Its time for the page to turn
On this friendship that started on the net

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
