Two Mothers

You’re the man, my little Cain

You’re the One to come!

Your destiny is to lift the pain

Our failure’s feign, begun

You’re the man, sweet little Seth

For Cain has stumbled badly

Took from Abel life and breath,

Whose faith was martyred gladly.

Who’s the man, now that Seth died?

Prophet’s eyes grow dim,

We dare not say our Maker lied,

We’re still expecting Him.

Some called Him Shiloh,

Some, HIs un-named Servant

Beyond everything I do not know,

Lies a simple faith that’s fervant.

Some wind-caressed point and place,

It’ll happen just as God’s willed,

Lost world will taste amazing grace,

In that prophecy fulfilled

“You’re the man sweet little Jesus!”

Tired Mary told her Son,

Salvation comes when the Spirit pleases,

Through a town called Bethlehem!

Underneath that shining star,

Calling “Come, O come, and see!”

Sing’s a radiant, joyous angelic choir

O’er your King’s nativity!

After all those patient years,

Spent in such torturing delay,

“Peace,” they say, to quell new fears,

“Your Saviour’s born today!”

Two Mother’s hearts tugged in two

As their grieving left them battered,

For ‘twas Mary’s tears Eve never knew,

For all eternity, that mattered.

The journey from the presumed early days of the beginning to the time of Mary and her infant son Jesus is cleverly bridged in your write Harver. Thanks for sharing in this the season of reflection.

Harver, An ingenuous poem indeed the way you segued into the birth of Christ from the death of Abel. Salvation was not just happenstance. Excellent and thought provoking. ginga

Ok, this poem is good! it shows how we can bring in christmas with a great thought of remembering the past pain into the future love if we choose to do so. In addition the stanza two mothers grieve this is a everyday battle during the season at times for some moms they grieve over loss, love, pain, a symbol of it all in just this one line a lot can be read.Good write

The story of Christmas always begins with a known, but undetailed grief. This forms the context of the celebration of the deliverance Christmas signals. Peace and light to you. Harv

Sorry hit the wrong button. Flowing through the Jewish linage arriving at Bethlehem and the birth of Christ. Nice job tying the old and new together.
