Vividly Dark

Vividly Dark

I will not paint you a picture

Of love and rainbows

I know not the colors

That belong in that scene

Instead I will paint you a picture

Blended into a whirlwind of colors

Like a visceral rendition of a Picasso on acid

I will run you through a forest

Of green trees and newly budded flowers

And watch your face as I transform them

Into rotting corpses dripping with blood

I will hold you close to my heart

With fevered skin and heaving chest

And feel you recoil

When they become skeletal arms

And decaying flesh

I will kiss you deeply drinking you in

Intoxicating you with carnal desire

And I will feel you choking

As you taste the rotten explosion

Of blood soaked honey

I will write you a sonnet

Drowning in raindrops of love

And watch you become blinded

When I twist the words

With contagious cynicism and bits of your soul

But you will not fall from my embrace

You will not flee from lust’s caress

You will not fear my sorrowful soul

You will not free me from the dark

You will simply love me for me

Darkness and all

You paint the most macabre scenes I have ever had the pleasure to imagine. You make me see beautiful rainbow colors only to smear them into a hellish portrait. You take me to a lush green forest only to destroy it and drape rotting corpses from the limbs. You speak of love, but only so you may take my soul and drain me of life. But, I'll be back. You are still my favorite dark poet. TS

I do love you for your darkness and for all of the reflections you do not leave in mirrors: a masterful write from the Goddess Of Dark Light.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
