Walls

Walls

I put walls up for a reason,
Now they come crashing down!
I was hurt,
But this hurt worse.
You told me to forget,
But it takes a second to make a friend,
a minute to like someone,
An hour to get to know someone,
A day to love some one,
And unfortunately a lifetime.... To forget someone,
who makes you:
laugh
smile
be yourself without even trying,
And who is:
funny
hilarious
himself round you all the time
never hates you
never says you are boring
always laughs at you jokes
likes everything about you(as a friend)
But now you've made me cry,
I broke down infront of you,
ruined what could of happened,
All because I tore down the walls,
I told you my secrets,
I told you my dreams,
my plans,
my insecurities,
I told you about my past,
I told you what could last,
I trusted you,
Loved you.
Now these walls are crumbled
Now I build them again and
try to forget your perfectness,
well you were perfect to me!

It's hard to let down our walls; for some it comes naturally. However, for most we hide the "real" us in fear. Amazingly powerful poem you have written.

Hiding behind a shield and when a person comes along and makes us trust them and just hurts us more until those walls are up again and even stronger.... people want to know the real you and then they judge.

This was so true! we put up walls to keep people out and the ones we truly love in.

Yup... Until u let the walls tumble and get hurt

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
