    Poem Commentary

A tribute to one of the last great news men.

    Walter's Paczki

I sat here waiting for you,
    And you did not return.

    The house was silent,
    Yet full of people.

I thought that maybe we'd get one last look at the news,
Followed by your consumption of me.

    Oh Walter,
    you kept it real.

The news was not full of emotion,
It was there to report on what was going on.

You enjoyed my forefathers as dessert,
Each time you watched the evening news.

    Today I begin life,
Knowing that you won't eat me.

I will forever be remembered as,
    Walter Cronkite's last Paczki.

A time long lost to us. Those days are forever gone, unfortunately. It was a simpler time then and ppl were so much nicer to each other. shame

This is hilarious yet poignant. It is strange when those things we take for granted just vanish. Who knew he was such a fixture til he was gone..I like this.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
