  • A working class hero is something to be.

We forward in this generation, triumphantly.

Young to the earth she sits in a chair.

Wishing the words he spoke was never there.

Accompanied by her folks, she lets the tears roll.

It is just too hard to keep them on hold.

A family to inform, of this unfortunate news.

A battle to begin, hoping not to lose.

The radiation will burn her skin,

The chemo will wear her too thin.

Advantage taken on life, is far too congruous.

People unhappy with their lives, often jealous.

Unaware of their luck, of what they possess

Not realizing what they had ‘til it’s put to rest.

“It is cancer,” the doctor says looking away.

They sit there, not knowing what to say.

But to you I say, today is not the worst day.

For you can walk, you can see, still be who you want to be.

Live strong, be strong, and don’t stop singing that song,

“Don’t worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing is gonna be alright”

It has wonderful rhythm and a nice flow of words, great words of encouragement.

love the bob marley reference at the end. brilliant poem. I always try to realize how lucky i am in life and be appreciative of the things i possess and always stay positive. this poem came from an honest vulnerable place. the makings of the best kinds of poems. thank you for writing and sharing. keep your head up. take care.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
