    Poem Commentary

    this is not one of my better poems

    What Am I?

     I'm trapped in this box
    confined to my emotions
    Yet I search for one
    one that all humans have
    A basic emotion
    And i keep searching to no avail
    Warmth and life it creates
    If I do not have it
    then am I not human?
    Am I not alive?
    I feel alone
    Like a creature
    a monstrous being
    the only one of it's kind
    Am I doomed to endure
    an eternity in torture
    Am I not like you
    ever since conception?
    Am I just a thing
    meant to be hated and destroyed?
    Or,
    Am I your guardian
    The one to take your burdens away?
    Am I a thief,
    stealing all your worries?
    All your problems
    you give them unto me
    and i suffer
    so that you do not
    What am I you ask
    I am an empath
    I am an ally
    I will always be there
    suffering silently
    to help you through
