    "What Can Be Done"

    What Can I do
When it seems no one cares
And when I truly need help
    No one is ever there

    What can I do
When the system so many trust
    Will do nothing at all
    Nothing to help us

    What can  I do
When the nephew I love so much
Was ripped away from my home
After I raised him for 7 long months

    What can I do
     How can I not cry
When he calls me his mom
With so much love in his eyes

    What can I do
When she only took him away
Because she knew he was happy
And he'd always want to stay

    What can I do
when his mom has no clue
About how to raise a baby
    Not that she'd want to

    What can I do
When he's treated like a pawn
because this is merely a game
    To his biological mom

    What can I do
Am I not supposed to care
    About the precious little boy
    Who is no longer there

    What can I do
On the weekends he does come by
When I have to take him home
And he does nothing but cry

    What can I do
    Is this yet another test
The only thing I know for sure
Is dear Lord you know best

    What can I do
When I've done all I can
Dear Lord I pray for strength
Because it's now in your hands

    What can I do
    I'll tell you what's next
I'm going to fall on my knees
And let God do the rest!!

This poem touches my heart and shivers me with emotion... I feel this piece very..very much...I am adopted. 'A constant struggle for me it shall always be.' You are doing the right thing though...believe that... i was taken from my bio-mom at 6yr.. I too was toyed with by the legal system... My bio-mom would not sacrfice her addiction for crack to regain custody...Just know that there a many years to come for your beloved nephew, and that when he has matured...I know he will come back to you, fall in to your loving arms and thank you for every single thing you have done for him...may the best come your way Mitzi..God guide us all.

Your pain is felt all throughout this poem and it goes all the way to caring...so heartfelt to see how some of us not see the value of a life only as a pawn....too much too many times

Thank you so much for yor comment...I think it's time we all take a close look at our lives!!

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
