What does it take to make you believe?

What does it take to make you believe?

Belief in yourself is hard to obtain,

even harder to regain after it’s been driven away,

what keeps you from knowing you could be a star?

Who’s there just to tell you, “you can’t make it that far”

Yet sometimes it takes the most drastic change,

heartbreak in exchange for self-belief

Loneliness in exchange for the freedom to move on

ambition in exchange for uninspired success

How will I keep up this high sense of hope?

Will I last long enough to make it all real?

I’ll surround myself with those who encourage the pursuit

And will push me to continue, never give up

So, join me in living for what you believe,

Make good on your promises to live out your dreams,

Come out from the shadows and step onto the stage,

because now is your best chance to write a new page

A very inspiring poem that everyone should take a minute to read.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
