What If
Do I have the courage to try
To realize
What could have been
If things had gone differently way back when?
Would I be the same today
As I've always been?
If I had done one more good deed,
Planted one more seed
When the need
Showed itself
to me.
If I hadn't been so shy,
If I had tried
To do the things you asked of me,
Would things be different today
If I had done this yesterday?
But I know that it could never be.
All these things must remain
A mystery
To me.
But I know now
That I must try
to do more of
What you ask of me,
To set the captive free,
To bring a smile to a lonely face,
To show others your amazing grace.
It's time for me
to be
what you want me
to be.
