    When I Wanted To Leave

That time during the day—when I wanted to leave
He came up to me, very close to my face
Teary eyed, I knew he cried
I really needed to leave that place

He asked me to stay—when I wanted to leave
And I asked him why I should
And there he was, doing what he does
I would have left him if I could

I was frozen there in my tracks—when I wanted to leave
Not knowing at all what to say
The lights were dim, and I’m seeing him
I needed to leave that day

I had all my bags—when I wanted to leave
All around me on the floor
And then I felt, the way he knelt
In front of me by the door

He grabbed my hand—when I wanted to leave
And he pulled me to his lips
And then he snatched, I tried to catch
    The skirt upon my hips

And there he had me—when I wanted to leave
    Locked into his clutch
I couldn’t believe that I needed to leave
The man I used to love so much

When I wanted to leave—I was lying on the floor
    Helpless like a child
All cut and bruised, severely used
    A person meek and mild

When I wanted to leave—I closed my eyes
    And dreamed of getting out
I realized my fears, and shed some tears
Then I wanted to scream and shout

When I wanted to leave—I walked away
And went to find a chair
I then sat down, and looked around
And then I needed some air

When I wanted to leave—I went outside
    To think about a life
And so I uncovered, a life undiscovered
A better one without the strife

When I wanted to leave—I went back inside
And then he greeted me with a frown
And man I knew, what he wanted to do
And then I put my head down

He lifted it up, and then he struck
On the floor I fell I believe
And around my neck, his hands then met
And because I stayed, I slowly began to leave.

You have an incredible talent. Keep it up!

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
