WHERE HAVE ALL MY CHILDREN GONE?

JAN. 5, 2010

Where have all my children gone?
When I sent them, they were well and strong.
Safe inside you, they were growing there.
Warm and fed, without a care.
They were trusting you, to care for their needs.
Why aren’t they being nurtured on your knees.?

Their voices, are crying out to me.
“Where oh where.... is my new Mommy”?
How can I tell them, you didn’t care?
How can I say...., your life.... you chose not to share?

You’ll never know, this babe’s first suck;
You’ll never know, his loving soft touch.
You’ll never see this child grow strong.
He’ll never be... where he belongs.

Maybe you’re still trying... to decide..
It’s not too late.... he’s safe inside..
Maybe, it’s not, a time of your choice;
But this babe so fair.... has no voice.
Your actions have caused, this situation.
Accept the results...without exception.

If it’s to late to change what’s done
Then turn to the Lord, God’s only Son..
Repent of the choice... that you chose.
He’s forgiving and loving.... your heart He knows.
He sees your tears, He feels your grief,
He will give you that much...longed for relief..

very beautifully written...it was if it was the child itself speaking out you did a wonderful job

Thank you so very much borderflower. I found this quite a hard poem to write and yet felt that I had a message to give through it. Again, thank you so much.

Wow. This is a good poem. Kudos to you for writing such sensitive matter. Keep doing the work of the Lord, sister.

thank you so very much, Lolee. I found this was the hardest poem that I have ever written. I wanted to be the voice of the unborn, and encourage those who might be considering abortion, and give hope to those who may have already done this act. With God, He meets every one of those needs. Again, I appreciate your comment.

This subject always seems to be a hot debate. I agree with you that the unborn child should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. No one knows how one life can change the course of the world. As an example; the Wright brothers took first flight in Kitty Hawk, NC and now they are exploring outer-space.

Yes, Gentle T, it can start a hot debate. I felt I had to be the voice for these who have no voice. And yet, I didn't want to leave anyone in despair, so I wanted to leave hope if someone had made a choice that they wished they had not made. My youngest son was born with birth defects and I would have been advised to terminate the pregnancy. He turned out to be not as bad as Dr.s thought and he is living a fulfilled life. He has given us so much joy and happiness as well as those he comes in contact with. He is holding a job in a nursing home as an assistant to the recreation director. What a waist if he were not allowed a chance.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
