  • Cultures come to conquer and their gods applaud.

white beard

the ocean ghost recites his poems
just beyond the tracks of a cold night,
thrown.

beneath the stars he stares out there
past black nighttime sky with both eyes
wide.

and the size of the scene, it's immensity,
reminds him his hair isn't so long after
all.

and as long as his lungs reach to scream,
he continues, as the empty glass turtle shell
yells

back like a whale at the wind that's made it's
way in thru a throat that refuses to
choke.

Well! Well! You lead us very well to see this image of good "Ole Man Sea." Well done , this metaphorical filigree and vivid imagery. It reminds me of a one-line poem written by my eight-year old daughter ,when she saw the Rio Cobre in spate. "Here comes an angry man in his khaki suit," You have whimsically painted a gentler picture, John E.. Wordslinger, Poet Laureate of OP. Your inspiration to write this exquiste piece was a victory moment for you. Reply to Comment

The intro just blows my mind, lol
