    Why Pretend?

Are you tired of showing off and being the person you are not?
Got a call from God one day but your heart was all locked.
Locked up, sealed tight, and off limits to him.
He's been knocking for some time and he wants to come in.
He says step out on faith.
Let the sun shine on your face.
Get yourself prepared to run a different race.
Stop pretending you're a winner who never fumbles or falls.
It's all in your mind that your headed for victory without being stalled.
Procrastination is your enemy and stealer of true light.
Holding you bound to alley ways and the darkness of night.
Unworthy is a partner bent on blowing your precious time.
Cobwebs and all occupy your slaughtered mind.
Self-doubt is a cousin who is boarding in your heart.
He is the worst of them all for tearing souls apart.
Haughty is a culprit too who wins academy awards.
All awhile he entices followers of him and keeps the entire world fooled.
The heart is the world's oven being deceitfully led.
Away from the only answer, God's word the Bible, our daily bread.
Why pretend we are babies just getting our first sight?
Watching and yearning trying to do everything right.
Why pretend we are toddlers just wanting to explore?
Pounding down doorways, always needy, and also craving more.
Why pretend we are adolescents who are blindly smelling our "stuff"?
Full of pride, rebellion, being defiant, and messing up.
Why pretend we are grown ups that seem to have all the answers for sure.
Holding on to past beliefs and wanting something noble to stand for.
Why pretend we are seniors longing to leave a legacy of gold.
Lessons taught, lessons learned, still reminiscing about days of old.
Let's pretend we are students of the highest on high.
Being followers of Jesus who we unintentionally deny.
He said to follow me now and forever where I go.
To the ends of the earth restoring the broken to whole.
He said pretend you are my children and become like little babes.
Be sucklings of my milk until your immaturity fades.
He said be an example to others like I have been to you.
Keep God's word as your lamp post to carry you through.
There's a place in the heart that we all have in common for sure.
This heart of man is deceitful and only God can make it pure.
He said do your best and stop all the pretending.
Open your heart to my help and let the Holy Spirit step in.
Let it guide you and mold you into the image of God.
Heed to it's direction so you can understand truths.
    And stop asking, why?

I am a product of growing up in a dysfunctional household...an alcoholic mother, gambler/pimp father. I was neglected and experienced sexual molestation from close family members while in that family's care. I have been burned and cut physically,,,cannot even imagine the emotional abuse that kept me bound since a child. I married a man like my father for so called security..all the wrong reasons. to have a father around..yet turned out to be an absentee father after all...God made me strong,,kept me sane...he has always had his hand on me and my household... blessed with four (grown )children,,my world...Praise God that he does not waist any hurts....what Satan saw for evil and contempt , GOD made good.AMEN be strong in all things with GOD

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
