    You call me "Bitch"

You've been beating me up a lot lately
Oh, not with your fists, but with your words.

The marks and bruises you leave don't show to the outside world
They are wounds on my heart for me alone to see and feel.

Your favorite name for me is "Bitch"....

    Let me tell you about this "Bitch";
I bore your sons and stayed home caring for them while you were out partying with your friends those many years.
    Yet you call me bitch.

I worked full time jobs to pay our bills because you couldn't hold down a job of your own
And still you call me bitch.

I went to your court dates, visited you in jail, accepted your collect calls, put money on your books, taking away from our household account
    Still you call me bitch.

I stood up to my friends and family, and listened to my Father tell me he would rather attend my funeral than attend my wedding to you.
And still, you call me bitch.

I rocked my babies, went to teacher conference, Dr. appointments and school plays alone because you were nowhere to be found.
    Still you call me bitch.

Now many years have passed; Our sons are now grown and are twice your size and have twice your heart.
I have sacrificed much to keep them out of your thug lifestyle.
Yet still, you call me bitch.

I cook for you, clean up after you, give you my body when I would rather die than have you touch me, and still you call me bitch.

You're killing me; Day by day, with each name you call me, every threat, every time you scream in my face, every wall punched, every insult....you're killing me.
I grow smaller and smaller, quieter and quieter...I dont even fight back anymore.

And still, you call me bitch.

Very powerful words. I felt your sadness, and pain. This man dosent respect you, and as I read in the poem you seem to be a strong and remarkable lady. Kepp up the good work girl, and don't let him put you down. "A bitch? Well thank you for the compliment. For you see deary, a bitch is a female dog, and a dog has a bark, bark grows on trees, and trees are nature, and nature is beautiful. So thank you for the compliment" [i seen that a while back. I think this when people call me a bitch] =) -Crys.,

Way to let it all out. I am glad you recognize that you do not need that and you deserve respect. This was a bigger blow than Bitch ever will be. keep em coming.

If you are still a relationship with this man,you need to get out. From reading your poems,I sense that you are a kind person and deserve to be treated with more respect .as a survivor of abuse myself, I know that the abusers try to put you down through either physical or verbal abuse in order to make up for their inadequacies in dealing with their problems. It took me a lot of years and much counseling to realize that I was a beautiful person with much poential, who did not deserve the abuse I put up with. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you are not a beautiful, special person with great potential.

I was first drawn to this poem because of the title, and soon I realized the words within were even more powerful. I felt your pain and I felt your strength. You fought back with your own words of denouncement to overcome his ignorance and cowardice. The prose is formulated deep in emotions that leave a ringing in the readers ears. I have to call you a B word for all that you have done - for your stance and for your love of family - care of children,, YOU ARE A B- EAUTIFUL PERSON! Thank you for sharing.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
