A Good Wind

A Good Wind

A good wind
makes everything better:
kites fly higher
boats sail faster
laundry dries in flapping rhythm.
Footprints on the beach
lose their man-made appearance,
start to resemble
alien landing sites
on the surface
of the moon.

There is something slightly cynical about the evidence of humans left upon planet earth. Is this "Save the world," or "Don't interupt me, I'm reading, just now?" A good wind carries the scent of flowers, spice, and the approach of a lover. I liked your poem and where it took me. Harv

Thanks! It was kind of "I'd rather be without humans now because they mess up nature's beauty" kind of thing. Nature speaks to me so much. I love it's beauty and basic-ness. No pretences (pretenses?) or games; no lies. Wow, I do sound cynical! Thanks for reading my stuff; I appreciate it.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
