A Guilty Love Poem
I've crossed the gates of a seemingly dammed love
Cleansed my wounds with medicines that never are quite enough
Told tales of promises never before my reflections eyes
Convinced my conscience that sometimes there's no harm in telling a lie
I'd weathered the winds of yesteryears storm
And accepted that love itself always ends forlorn
But none of these things are to be remembered on this eve it would seem
For tonight surrendered four walls are not to be the boundaries of my dreams
The rain drops they glisten with reassuring simplicity
The very epitomy of a cycling serenity
Oh but I but I have done bad things that I've promised for to repay
And in my time of indebtment how can I be worth to hear you say
That you understand me and happiness shall prevail
When mistakes fall like thunder and freeze on the skin like hail
Oh and isn't it just such a travesty for me to feel hard done by
When I'm sleeping soundly as I ought be crucified
All you've done is be yourself for which I've wrongly criticised
If only I could do just that without taking my luck for a ride
A revolution sound of an engine in the distance transpires
Drowning out the potential of nearby satin choirs
And your nature is not to be routinised but fickle
But remember my tomorrow's certainty is brittle
There's a certain something only witnessed in morns first hour
And there's a certain sweetness found in all that is sour
There's a certain thrill burrowed in any nightmare
And all these can be felt when in the presence of your air
