    a touch

As i watch the goddess dance
    The excitement grows stronger
    I urn for a touch
    My body trembles
    I reach for the touch
The goddess moves as to tease me
    The urning grows stronger
I beg the goddess for a touch
The goddess replies with a yes
    I reach out my hand
As the goddess touches my hand
    My trembling body is steadied
The touch is soft and smooth
    Which sends a sensation
    Of such loving warmth
    That lifted every pain
    As if i was weighless

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
