ambrosia and nectar

ambrosia and nectar

I ache for your presence
My heart is warmed by your name in my thoughts
You tease me with gifts from another world
Inviting me in
Feeding me
Ambrosia and nectar of the gods
I taste the sweetness of confusion
Just brushing the tip of my tongue
Before dissolving and changing me
Forever
You hold me close
Whispering small nothings
Delicate songs
Ringing in my ears like golden bells
I am under your spell
I am yours
But you are hardly mine
For what is a mere mortal to a god
I open my eyes
Staring back is a boy
No god
No ambrosia or nectar
He pulls me close to him
Comfort overcomes me
We dance.
He is mine.
If only for a moment.♥

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
