    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem some 35 years ago it honors my wife Jill who died tragically in a car accident in 1990   Although its a little sappy, she was a beautiful caring  nurse when I met her, and she did save me....I miss her every day....

    ANGEL BRIGHT

With the classic beauty of Greek design,
    a once lost, rediscovered shrine,
as if a sculptor had carved each line,
    flawless face and form devine,
all the sparkle of vintage wine,
too free a spirit to confine.

And I in my armor like a knight,
a glory soldier at his height,
lie crushed and broken in the night,
    vanquished in the foregone fight,
and you, the lithesome ANGEL BRIGHT
rush in to save me from my plight.

Across my mind a wand does trace,
the heavenly pattern of your face,
like velvet soft, on antique lace,
the tender hold of your embrace,
the sands of time cannot erase,
my heart's, forever, you resting place.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
