    as i cry

as i sit here and cry
    cry for my son
    cry for my son's sister
    who is not mine
cry for the mother of my child
who will never be mine again
i cry to me, a man i never was
i cry for the man i should have been
    but dont know how
i cry for the man i am now
i cry because i dont know
    what to do next
i cry for the mistakes ive made
    and know it wont change
i cry for the life ive had
i cry for the years that i would
    not cry about before
i cry for you, me, her, and him
in a world that has no direction
    lost in translation
a translation from bad to good
i cry because i need to cry
knowing we'll never ba a family
    again

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
