Poem Commentary

should one be so prepared?

as-surety

what if the robbers come at night?

perhaps we'll install a security light.

it should be up high on a post by the fence.

changing the password is only good sense.

before we lock up, put the dogs on alert.

i'll hide a tazor in the pocket of my shirt.

are the cameras in place from up top to below?

tell the guard at the gate, "no one in we don't know!"

all safe and secure, at the end of the day.

they will not get to us we will keep them away.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
