    Bittersweet Endings

My heart sat beating in the palm of your hand,
Never to belong to another man.
I felt so safe and unable to be touched,
Never knowing I would hurt this much.
How could I be so blind and naive,
How did you convience me to believe.
All this time thinking you were the one,
How in the world could I be so dumb.
The day it sank in was the day I knew,
Everything you said to me was untrue.
    Lie after lie,
All I have left is to ask why.
What could I have done to deserve this,
Is there nothing about me you miss.
I guess I was just another victim of your game,
With no one else but myself to blame.

    Gifted writing

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
