Black Awareness
Tho our struggle has been hard
and our future undecided
Tis no reason to allow
ourselves to be misguided
There is plenty we can do
to stimulate such worthy cause
And it doesn't include griping
or waiting around on Santa Claus
The problem is an old one
and has to be solved by us
Open your eyes and look around you
and see why there's no time to fuss
We should never forget to smile
and give a little hope
To the brother or sister whose child
died from an overdose of dope
And when we walk down ghetto streets
we shouldn't turn up our noses
At the sisters who stand on corners
in their most promiscuous poses
We should try to help them see
all of the good qualities they possess
By making them acquainted with
Black Awareness
and our future undecided
Tis no reason to allow
ourselves to be misguided
There is plenty we can do
to stimulate such worthy cause
And it doesn't include griping
or waiting around on Santa Claus
The problem is an old one
and has to be solved by us
Open your eyes and look around you
and see why there's no time to fuss
We should never forget to smile
and give a little hope
To the brother or sister whose child
died from an overdose of dope
And when we walk down ghetto streets
we shouldn't turn up our noses
At the sisters who stand on corners
in their most promiscuous poses
We should try to help them see
all of the good qualities they possess
By making them acquainted with
Black Awareness
