Bound

Bound

Dark and cold
I sit and watch the clock
just ticking my time away.

Here I am
stuck inside

watching of the world go by

all looking through the windows.

Bound by chains

just longing to get away.

Home; nothing but a prison

the walls stare and laugh
the amusement of my holding.
I hide away in my world

which is of only my mind

dreaming of the outside

and rain pours on the glass

with my fingers to the window.

So close I am to the rain.
When can I rid of these chains?

So then I can be free

and dance in the sweet rain.

Bound like I am
breaking through is a hope;
a hope I will long for
until when I am free
from my prison

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
