but dust

but dust

my heart looked as if it was dust in your hands
It was like waiting for you to blow it to see where it lands
silent was my weakness for you but we learn
my heart is like trust you have to earn
I shall forever guard with my life my beating jewel
for we learn so young and forget love is cruel
do you ever know someone in and out?
that you ever really know this I doubt
would rather feel something special and feel alive
than to have never held you by my side.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
