Chernobyl

Chernobyl.

The world is blinded,
Children left to die,
Watching people fight for survival,
When will we learn, Not to play creator?
Sarcophagus crumbles.
Can no longer contain the horrors,
Can we be so naive?
Not to see the need to contain.
Radiation.
Never depleting, Resource?
Instrument of mass murder,
Turned saviour,
Never-ending web, Spun by those who don't want us to know the truth.
Desecration of life,
Metamorphosing hideous creatures.
We close our eyes to the truth, Too horrific,
We allow the wool to be pulled over our eyes,
Follow like sheep,
The eyes of our minds focused, On trivial crisis,
Yet we choose to ignore the hundreds of thousands,
Who we destroyed,
The millions we are yet to,
Pillage of life,
Of human rights.
Mutants,
Lesser forms of human life, forgotten,
Ignored, And yet,
We continue to turn a blind eye to our own mistakes
Continue to play with what could kill us all,
What will kill us all.
We turn the other cheek,
Continue playing like an infant with an electrical wire,
The insulation will save us all.
Those of us who open our eyes,
Without the power to impact,
How many must we ignore,
Before we are left at the point,
We, MUST,
Close our eyes forever.

very effective. would like to see it written to a meter

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
