Confessions of an 11 year old girl

    I’m annoying,
That’s what everyone else says to me.
An 11 year old girl trapped in a world where kids are mean
And unhappiness is around every corner.
Cold, like ice clutching to my heart, so cold
Not even fire could put it out.
And when I go to bed at night on my wooden bed,
I know that my teachers still love me

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
