    Eye

    Chapter 1

    There once was a void
    from which
suddenly sprang a pin point of love

And in that love there was light
and in that light there was space
    therein grew love
    therein grew space.

In that space flowered the seed of the two expanses
in one expanse this type of love extended
in the other expanse that type of love swelled
in one span grew that type of love
and this type of love grew in the other vastness
    In either expanse love grew
    and as love grew
    time sprouted

    Time and love blossomed together
    until
time became a mighty river and
mass came to be afloat upon this mighty river
A mass of pebbles, of marbles and of stone
On a blue marble there came to be
    YOU and I
    we tumbled
    among and upon the currents
    in a space
    on this blue marble
    in a place
    on this blue marble
    as time washed over it

    I came to be
    i
    i am one
    single of many

    MANY
    Who looked and found
as i find myself in the
    eyes of others

i am as symmetrical as the eyes about me
i am a part of their puzzle
    the reflection in their
    I’s

i am what is missing or that which is too much
    i am the barometer of
    the I’s
    among and above my station
    As
eyes move to staccato bursts of vistas changing
i vacillate and am the temperature of all there
i am hot, other times cold
too cold to be felt, too cold to be comprehended
    so cold and brittle
A brittle mettle broken and shattered
A shard in the feet of the love that bore me
    in the heat
    a heat to hot
    to be explained
A heat that does not abide by degree
    hot enough to evaporate
    steel

    My eye watches
    carefully aiming to be the
    mean in extremes
at once I am metal, glass, vapor, water, air
    i move
    in and out
    i am banged upon
    i crack
    i slip, i fall, i splash
i am ice, if need be
i am what their eyes see

We all bump against each other
like billiard balls of the same number
Until someone falls into the hole
    quite possibly into the
    void
    that once was
    before life
    Until someone falls
    quite possibly into the
pin point of light that did puncture
    love
    Long ago

    Chapter 2

I am the voice of friction, static
    The shape of momentum
The stuff that rolls upon patches of grass or
    floats down the street of
concrete strewn with grit and glass

Eventually I get into their eyes and they
    blink
    their eyelids flutter
    their eyes water
and in their eyes is irritation
    and expulsion as tears running
down the semi-circle of their cheeks

    I turn my face away
    my head bends up ward
the expanse turns black from the perspective of my eye

    My eyes prick the place
where once there was a void
to perceive the pin point of love before there was light
From this position I have a pair of eyes
    Now I see
    my iris is brown
not the color of the eyes around me

    Chapter 3

I have been cast from among the shadows
    I need no longer seek
the eyes of others in order to see who
    I must be

    My spirit contently inhabits me

I am humbled by the spiritual insight, mystical expression, and poetic force, of this epic beauty. This intelligent writing should be studied by all of the poets on this sight. This is from the raw element of soul.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
