Fool For The Greater Good

Fool For The Greater Good

I am so hungry to believe that
most have good intentions
that I forget
 ego and greed taint intent.

I am so hungry to believe that
long term relationships are so important
in work and life for everyone
that I forget
jealousy and regret are the answer for some.

I am so hungry to believe
that social responsibility will be what
my child experiences in the world
that I forget
not everyone cares like a teacher.

I am so hungry to believe
that everyone will admire the life force in my child
that I forget
 not everyone respects life.

Such a foolish woman, why do I feel like such a dummy for expecting the best from everyone?

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
