LET ME THANK EVERY SOLDIER

LET ME THANK EVERY SOLDIER

LET ME NOT GO ONE MORE DAY
WITHOUT THANKING EVERY SOLDIER.

LET ME NOT SAY ONE MORE WORD,
LET ME NOT GROW ONE MINUTE OLDER.

UNTIL I THANK EVERY SOLDIER.

SOME OF YOU GAVE UP YEARS OF YOUR LIVES.
SOME OF YOU LEFT SONS AND DAUGHTERS, HUSBANDS AND WIVES.

SOME OF YOU WERE SHUNNED, IGNORED, AND SCORNED. THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT COULD SUFFICE
THE DAYS AND YEARS OF YOUR SACRIFICE.

SOME OF YOU PAID WITH ARMS, AND LEGS AND HEARING AND SIGHT.
AND THERE ARE SOME OF YOU WHO PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE.

SO LET ME NOT GO ONE MORE HOUR.
LET ME SAY IT WITH CONVICTION AND POWER

LET ME SAY IT STRONGER AND BOLDER.
LET ME SAY IT BEFORE ANY WORDS GROW COLDER.

LET ME SAY IT TO THOSE IN THE GRAVE
AND LET ME SAY ITTO THOSE WHO WERE SAVED.

LET ME THANK EVERY SOLDIER.

THANK YOU FOR FIGHTING FOR ME.
THANK YOU FOR DYING FOR ME.
THANK YOU FOR DEFENDING MY COUNTRY.
THANK YOU

Re: LET ME THANK EVERY SOLDIER

Thank you Brianlion for the passion you feel for our soldiers. If I may share... I had a moment to consider their fight..

THE SOLDIERS PRAYER

In all that I do
and all that I say,
I can only pray;

To contain my condition
of humility
and weakness
into my serve.

For all to behold
the glory of God and
for all of His children
to know just one God.

I pray for the safety
of all that I serve;
His love to beholden
by all who observe
the actions I take,
the words I have said.

For His love is worthy
for Him I do take
this oath of commitment;
my fellow to serve
until all on this earth;
His word
they have heard.

I am new to this just today, and hope to find some friends to read, enjoy and comment on my poetry as well. Thank you.

Re: LET ME THANK EVERY SOLDIER

Brianlion, this poem is incredible, the message you convey is an important one. Thank you for sharing it. I haven't read any of your other works but am looking forward to it.

Jean, I know I already commented on yours but I am going to do so again. You are doing such a good job for someone who says they just started as a way to keep it together. Poetry is a way of the soul it is the path to which we can speak our hearts. So just keep it up!

Both poems were incredible in two completely different ways. yet they both seemingly say the same thing. I love them both.

Now, for my own personal little tid bit. Please feel free to comment critisize or rant about any of my work. I so need the help...lol! tongue wink

go figure

go figure

my brother was killed on 9-11
when two planes flew into
the twin towers - has was an
FDNY Captain

we are supposedly -
fighting a global
war to kill, capture and
punish those responsible
- the body count (everywhere)
rises daily

before i board an airplane
i must remove my sandals,
belt, watch and wallets
to make sure i'm safe

yesterday they released
the man convicted of
blowing up an airliner
with 270 aboard - all died
he served 8 years out
of a life sentence

i read his freedom
was negotiated in
return for a big
oil contract

go figure

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
