Re: DPS ll Challenge "When GOD knocks on your Door"

I thought this was a great challenge. Thanks for the opportunity to respond.

Knock, Knock, Knock, Knock
I was thinking about hiding, or maybe suiciding.
God knocked on my door and said,
“There’s a light beyond coming your way.
It may be the next second, hour, or day.
It’s always darkest before the light,
Even in these times of plight.
The evil one always wants you to think,
There is no hope when you’re at the brink.
But, take it from Me, when I knocked at your door.
I heard your anguish and tears galore.
I know I didn’t come immediately.
I knocked when you truly needed.
When I thought your life was a waste;
I looked at the people in your life’s pace.
I saw your lover, family, and friends;
Who you were there for ,again and again.
I even saw your mistakes and messes.
I wanted to turn them from bad to blessings!
But, you decided you were going to end life with a rope.
I decided to knock and give you some hope.
Put down the rope, cut it with a knife!
Everyone is filled with strife.
Weeping will eventually stop
Although now it feels like you’re going to pop.
Turn to the Me I really understand.
Turn to Me, I’ll cover your hands.
With my hands of forgiving love,
I’ll turn sorrow into joy from above.
I know my knocking interrupted your plan.
I will help, even though you don’t understand.
Open the door and let me in.
No other one can be such a true friend."
Knock, Knock, Knock, Knock.

Re: DPS ll Challenge "When GOD knocks on your Door"

I am blessed in glory
To tell you my story
Of the day God knocked on my door
Tears of joy as I walked across the floor.

To meet my maker at long last
Prayers after prayers and years of fast
'Lord, be with me
And forever be
Come dwell in this poor heart
And never do You part'.

For years I awaited this blessed day
To welcome ny Lord as he comes this way
I reached for the door with trembling hands
Fear in my heart but strong in sense.

I opened the door to see my master
And there He stood! my heart ran faster
I fell on my knees and hands together
For this was the God I had waited forever.

And never did the Lord leave since the day He came
And life from then was never the same
Now my prayers are loud and clear
For the Lord speaks through me for the world to hear!

Forever to the End.
That’s coming faster’n
We would
Like to comprehend.

He’s not around to judge us, friends
He IS us if we’d pay atten-
Tion you will hear Him speak to you
The trouble is he loves us all
He loves both sides of any brawl
Both them as wins and them as falls
‘Cause God ain’t got no morals.

Now I ain’t sayin’ morals are wrong
Just wanta know who to put blame on
‘Cause God don’t DO no morals
Bible say He wrote Ten Basic Rules
To keep folks from bein’ total fools,
Then threw us right back in the Pool
Sayin’ “sink or swim now, Charley”!

He gave us sharks a’plenty fish to eat
And brains to figure how to keep
Within His budget of incarnate souls that
Eat high budget stuff like meat
Denying careless lives deplete,
The very Earth below our feet
And the growing things
WE need to eat.

But what about those who do hear God’s call?
The fist group goes insane and falls to see,
They’re not what one’s mind would like to be,
(Uniquely God’s most Chosen One
To whom all others should bow down.)

‘Cause all the teachers who told the truth
That God will speak to me and you,
And ANYONE,
Were burned at stakes,
The stakes in olden days were made
Of wood; Today more likely paper.
So the ones that speak out get disgraced;
And lose their clout.
So most of us don’t let it out.

While those who wink
Self-centeredly hire TV time to shout
Lies made up by clergymen
Covertly even to themselves
Are Satan’s true devout,
Who’s golden line's
The “Bottom Line”
Let no one ever doubt.

Our house is burning without doubt
While looters and shooters clean it out
Of substitutes
For God’s
Sweet words
As heard
By God’s
Devout.

Re: DPS ll Challenge "When GOD knocks on your Door"

I can't help but wonder
if there is a question under
the words of "When God Knocks on My Door"
If you truly know the One knocking
Open the door and make your future sure
for inspite of ourselves, it is not we
in all that we do that makes our future sure
but to whom we've opened the door

Re: DPS ll Challenge "When GOD knocks on your Door"

The Door Is Wide Open

“Hey!”
“That’s for horses and cows, ya know!”
You might not believe this
It’s pretty far out
And it doesn’t sound to real – either
But you see
I met Jesus coming down the street
The other night

It was about six or seven and – already dark
Homeless again as usual – Ya know how He is
There He was, Right there
Standing on the corner in the rain
Waiting for the red light to change

Said, He couldn’t get a room in the hotel
Said, He didn’t have a job
And He hadn’t eaten for
Almost two thousand years!
Almost didn’t recognize him
Cropped His beard, ya know
Stubble all over His face
Wearin’ rags and —– holy shoes
He said, everyone was so — busy
Just tryin’ to cop a few bucks
From everyone else
They couldn’t even spare a dime
Or the right time of day

Said — somebody told him
“You shouldn’t be
Panhandlin’ in the city,
You’re just gon’na get nabbed
For that old crime again!”

I says, “hey!”
“It can’t be all that bad!”

And He said, all His friends were
Treating him like a stranger
And He couldn’t find a crash pad
To drop for the night — (And it was cold out!)
Said, His old buddies just weren’t there anymore
When He needed them the most.
Said, He just didn’t get any invites anymore
Said, He felt like He might have said
The wrong thing to someone, sometime or another
And they might’ve took it the wrong way

“Shhhhhheeeit!” I said,
Everyone does that
At least a hundred times a day

He said, He was
Still bein’ treated that — same old way,
As usual
Everyone tellin’ Him to
Go out an’ sleep in the barn

Hey! I says,
Beats sleeping on a park-bench
Out in the thunder and the freeze of night
Or an alcove with a newspaper blanket
Then, I says, Yeah! I know,
I know what you’re talkin’ ‘bout
People just — don’t set a table
The way they use’ta!

Said, He didn’t want to – do it
But, He had to bust a street lamp
The other night
Where He was’a sleepin’
Cause it was’a shinin’ —– in His face
All – night – long – Just couldn’t stand it

He said, He was cold and needed a new coat
I said, “Yeah, the weather’s gettin’ plenty bad
And that old ‘Winter Of Discontent’
Has come around again
And It look’s like it’s here to stay
Then I says, I really know’d

What He was feelin’ and what He was talkin’ ‘bout
I says, “Ya know it’s the economy
Everyone;s got's the clean hands these day
And just don’t want nuthin’ to rub off”

He said, “That’s all right, It’s OK
Don’t bother me — Don’t matter much anyways
Everyone’s got’s to stand
In their own shoes, He says,
I sure could use some new shoes, Ya know
Mine are holier than HELL!

That's the last I saw of ‘em
The lights changed
And then He crossed the street
Goin’ the other way

I yelled out to him,
“Hope — You’ll find it –
A crash pad for the night!”
But He didn’t turn around
Just kept on walkin’
On down the sidewalk
His leather soles slappin’ cement!

“Jesus, You’re Gon’na Be Cold Tonight!”

i know you must be in a state of "Where am I...is Jeanie doing well...have to get that done...what's next, and do I have the strength, and the time for one?" kind of scenario. My wishes for comfort and ease of pains go out to Jeanie. Thanks for the recognition of my humor at the God knocking at the door challenge.

When God Knocks On Your Door
(Deborah Taylor)

When God knocks on your door
What will you hear him say
Well done my faithful servant
You chose the narrow way

When God knocks on your door

Will you pretend no one’s at home
Will you want to run and hide
Will you hang your head in shame
Or meet his eyes and smile

When God knocks on your door

Will he say you lived the golden rule
And loved beyond yourself
Your light a beacon shining bright
Not hidden on a shelf

When God knocks on your door

Will you invite him in to live
Clean every portion of your heart
Or only let him sit and rest
And see the few purged parts

When God knocks on your door

Will your oil lamp be ready
When the groom comes for his bride
Will your life be free of blemish
When he draws you to his side

When God knocks on your door

Will you accept the love he offers
Love beyond compare
Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness
Peace so pure so rare

When God knocks on your door

When God knocks on your door
What will you hear him say
Well done my faithful servant
Is what I hope and pray

When God knocks on your door

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
