Foundation of Flesh

Foundation of Flesh

i curl up in this bed

cover my head

and rock like a lost teenager

but i will not sleep

i will not shut these eyes

i am afraid to sleep

afraid this house might slip

off the sand i built it ojn

off the beach into the raging seas

i gasp for breath

as i'm here drowning

in these thoughts and lonely hours

i fight the tide for hands that hold

i lift my hands

asking for you to lift me up

like a child begging for their father

surrendering even my pride

i understand that you will hold

my head to your chest

You are a Savior

comforting the nails

i feel your hands

i feel your side

believe your love

as i look in Your eyes

i know You will turn

this sand into glass

return my integrety

return my innocence

i remember so long ago now

that the white

was splattered with black

but now your red will cover all

i see my virtue was given away

my heart lay broken

my soul stood crying

my death cried out for me

i can trust this glass turns into flesh

a foundation of you

and my world is ready

i lay down my life

this time my all

i lift up Your Name

for the sake of it all
