Poem Commentary

This poem is a man who came into my life and i trusted and was there for me most of my life he's not my real father but i never had a father before he came. he hurt me because he said he don't ever wanna see me again.

HE SAID HE’LL NEVER LEAVE

HE SAID HE’LL NEVER LEAVE.

I was only fifteen when he came into my life.

He said loved me and he’ll never leave.

His wisdom and knowledge he gave me,

When I cried he was there to comfort me.

He said no matter what he loved me and he’ll never leave.

He said he’ll never lie nor forsake me

But he made the mistake and got locked up

Even though I was there though thick and thin that was when he turned his back on me,

I was there when no one else was but still he turned his back on me.

I trusted him with my heart, my kids,

I trusted him with mind, soul, and my deepest secrets,

Because you see he’s my father, (at least I thought so)

The man who said he loved me and he’ll never leave.

What I did I'll never know because he won’t tell me so?

I said I’m sorry but no results,

He said no matter what the judge,  lawyer, or  DNA

Says

He’s is my father he loved me and he’ll never leave.

I sit and wish he’ll talk to me,

But he turned his back on me

He said I will always be his girl and he’ll never leave.

But he lied and then turned his back on me

He said he never want to see me.

He lied and then turned his back on me.

And you said you loved me and you’ll never leave.

You lied.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
