Her Eyes Tell The Story

Her Eyes Tell The Story

Her face is weathered with age,

Her body now old and frayed,

Most just disregard he as worn out and feeble,

Not of her right mind,

But if you look beyond the wrinkles,

Look past the graying hair,

Look past the absent smile she always seems to wear.

You’ll see her true spirit,

You’ll see there’s more than the surface shows,

You’ll see her eyes tell the story of things that will take you by surprise.

They show the shine once having loved,

The pain of losing it all.

The joy of dancing in the rain,

The content feeling of being caressed under the summer sun.

The fear of growing up,

The knowledge that one can only have by living the fullest of life til the day you die.

Her eyes tells the story that her mouth will never revel,

Her eyes tells the story of who she really is in life,

They are the doorway to a soul full of a lifetime of memories.

I thought this was really good. It expresses how words can say so much. For instance, "Her eyes tells the story of who she really is in life, they are the doorway to a soul of a lifetime of memories," this expresses how we don't have to constantly repeat our story to everyone we meet. But just allow our eyes to do the talking and express it more emotionally.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
