    Hold Nothing

    Release the tension
Before to jump off the bridge
Before to plunge in the deep
Before to walk away from fear
    Release the tension

Let go of the war creeping in
    Suggesting you to self-destruct;
To let fear take over your life
And choose the path for you.
No, I’m not letting you take me
Or chain me with you words
    I’ll be kicking and screaming
This is who you’ll be living with.

    I’m holding nothing anymore
My hand no longer holds yours
    I’ve untangled from your rope
I left you with no explanation.
    Now with your possession gone
You’re searching the world for me
But I am nowhere to be found
I let go of the memories we created.

    Release your grip
    Before you drive yourself crazy
Before you’re unable to move on
Before we spoil what’s left of us
    Release your grip

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
