Hoochie Hoochie Mama Anthem
He said it …….
Actually he sang it…..
Gracious glee smeared across his face
Hoochie Hoochie MaMA
Those words linger in my minds eye forever
His toothless smile and bald head
Too young to be captured by a sterile bed
Everything too white for the imperfections of youth
Hoochie Hoochie Mama
Made us laugh in an atmosphere not conducive
How can they laugh when
Hoochie Hoochie Mama
Could be his last
Words
Watching him like a lab culture
Staring into his half opened eyes
Looking at their watches like
When
Ready to say time of death
Blah Blah Blah
He knew they would never predict his death
Sleeping in a chair next to machines keeping him alive
He shook me scared
Asking when and what if it happens in the night?
I never knew what to say except that it would be everything he imagined
Similar to that of a Quinton Terrentino film
Chaos would break and the world would be dreary
I told him I would smash the nurses watches and not give them the satisfaction
His last breath would be brilliant
His crystal blue eyes trusted my life’s promise
But the buzzzzz sounded in the morning
It sounded off like a
Drumming
Bass
Or maybe
A flesh
Eating buzzard
My knees collapsed
There was no smashing glass
No warriors
Just a soul
And an empty twenty eight year old body
The world went on
Checking their watches and worrying about being late
He breathed in his last breath
And preceded time
