    I am a logophile!

Enchanted by words and turns of phrases,
I go through life in lingual dazes.
    Musing upon some sentence heard,
Or searching for some long, lost word.

    Amazed by onomatopoeia,
    Allured by alliteration,
    Mesmerized by metaphors,
    Soothed by synchopation.
    Nonplussed by non sequiturs,
    Tickled by a pun,
    Inspired by some similes,
    Finding crosswords and jumbles fun!

I play with words as a toddler might:
Putting them in my mouth to taste.
Spitting them out with an accent,
Or gobbling them up post haste.

    I know there's a word for what I am
And it's one that makes me smile.
I'm a word lover and the word for that
    Is, of course, logophile!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
