I Heard It In The Rain
I hear the wind blowing, whistling
Is that you I hear?
I see the drops of rain falling, crashing
Am I seeing your tears?
I hear the thunder roaring, thumping
Is that your heartbeat that I feel?
I see the lightning striking, flashing
Is that your once caring ideal?
But within the storm,
I hear a song...
A song without words,
yet it's where I belong.
The words are soothing,
The notes are soft,
The rhythms are slow,
And the melody sweet.
A song of love
A song of pain
A sweet, slow song...
I heard it in the rain.
The thunder is the beat,
On an ocean sized drum.
Its rhythm keeps on thumping,
You've got nowhere to run.
It strikes with sudden sound,
And then a lonely pause.
Then another strong pound,
This with just cause.
A song of love
A song of pain
A sweet, slow song...
I heard it in the rain
The wind starts to whistle,
A long, forlorn refrain
With only two notes,
One is blown with pain.
The other bestows love,
With solemn memories,
With the grace of the dove,
And all its somber pleas.
A song of love
A song of pain
A sweet, slow song...
I heard it in the rain
The thunder slowly leads,
Conducts the avid beat.
It's flashes show direction
To walk that lonely street.
The band slowly follows
On this cloudy day parade,
Hoping that tomorrow,
This song will not be played.
A song of love
A song of pain
A sweet, slow song...
I heard it in the rain.
Is that you I hear?
I see the drops of rain falling, crashing
Am I seeing your tears?
I hear the thunder roaring, thumping
Is that your heartbeat that I feel?
