    I Know Now

    I didnt know then
I never knew who I was
    or
    how to show me
    that inner child's light
    the writer of poetry
    the reader of biography
the fight or flight plan wasnt by my side
    instead...........I chose to hide
This isnt a poem of an empty space
where I was somehow figured into the human race
With parents who believed when push came to shove
where nothing was showered, least of all Love
This is about this person here now
Who found solace in the shadows
but came into the light somehow
    Its not of self pity
for I claim who I am
    A hard working woman
    who bears no shame
    For its Laughter I love
    and I love to laugh
    Its the Goodness of Life
For its all that I have
    I didnt know then
    but I do know now
that its ok to live life to the fullest
    and be who I am

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
