    Illusion

    I once lived.
    Heart beating fast,
    thought it would last.
    I once lived.

    I had it all.
    Love and laughter,
    from here ever after.
    I had it all.

    I had hope.
    Saw a future with you,
    believed it was true.
    I had hope.

    I felt strong.
    Though the odds were rough,
    you made me feel tough.
    I felt strong.

    I had faith.
    When things started falling,
    we followed our calling.
    I had faith.

    I was blind.
    Ignored the signs every day,
    that you were slipping away.
    I was blind.

    I'm alone.
With pictures of you still in my mind,
and the few belongings you left behind.
    I'm alone.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
