It's Not the Dying, It's the Leaving

I love my sons, it's so true
And should I ever lose them, 
                     I would grieve.
When I see them, everything
                     seems anew.
I wish that I never have to leave.

Life's not like that, it's easy to
                                    see
So we all do the best we can.
It's up to God what will be
All I am is a man.

So children, I say with a sigh,
I can't promise to never go.
Can never promise not to
                            say goodbye.
Life isn't fair at times, I know.

It's not the dying, it's the leaving.
