As the light gives way to darkness and the misty moonlit night fades to black, So does life give way to death.
A mother comforts her child in her arms with a tearful eye as a father faithfully keeps watch over his daughter.
The pain has worsened, the cancer tightens it’s grip on the young life. As she closes her eyes in pain, struggling to swallow a sip of life sustaining water, her face is distorted in pain and anguish.
No answer to prayer, no footsteps in the sand, no still small voice, no comfort of a guardian angel. They seem to have given way to the darkness and loneliness of despair.
But darkness gives way to the light. A single star can pierce the blackest night.
So does death give way to life.
It is said that love never fails. That love conquers all. It can soften the tears of anguish, It can calm an angry soul, It can lesson the pain of sorrow, It can lead one through the fires of hell, and so it is. An angel has walked among us. She has given us a glimpse of heaven. A battle for life never given up. A spirit of love never surrendered. A hope for tomorrow when life is but a flicker.
In a world that confuses lust for love, success with keeping score and money for happiness , our life has been richly blessed. Never again will we hold her hand or kiss her cheek, but we have loved , and have been loved. And the love remains.
