Life As I Know It

Life As I Know It

I want to sleep the sleep of someone else
Of someone who can have a sound sleep through the night
And not the one who has nightmares or the one
Who has to wake up every hour at the cry of hungry baby.

I want o have someone else's face
Of someone who has a decent look with even skin tone
And not the one who has to hide under
Layers of make up to conceal her past scars.

I want to have someone else's mind
A mind that believes in goodness of people
Not the one that carries too many wounds
From seeing the ugly side of fellow humans.

And finally I want  to live the life of someone else
Of the one who lives only according to her will
And not the one who has to live each day of her life
Under the tyranny of some oppressors.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
