Life
Another birthday around the corner
You gather friends to have a party
Disaster strikes
Your best friend has moved the day before the party
To places you have never been
To people you have never seen
To restaurants you have never eaten in
To pools you have never swam in
To houses you have never egged
Life is cruel
Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
