Live Within the Light

Poem Commentary

Do not be overcome by evil, rather overcome evil with good.

Live Within the Light

Humble strength of sacrificial Love
poured from veins of simple Man.
Limp and lifeless, faith destroyed,
confusion reigns, no hope abides.

Yet in this place of darkest grief,
where sorrow clouds our sight,
a ray appears like noon day sun,
and evil's darkness it does chide.

For Holy Virtue is not squelched,
nor held at bay by death or gloom.
Pure goodness is the source of life,
it can't be buried in a tomb.

Rise and shine in victory's joy,
as death and evil lose their power.
Darkness has been now dispelled,
we live within the Light!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
